Who Are We?
“We” is just Me!
Sara Harris
Our baker, Sara, has been baking since she was old enough to tie an apron. Self-taught, she fell in love with being in the kitchen with her aunts as a young girl. As an adult, her passion to connect with people through food continued as she spent several years in the restaurant business. In 2018, Rogue Petunia Cakery was formed from Sara's desire to connect with people and share her passion for baking. Real ingredients (no oils- butter only here!), custom flavors, and the belief that a great dessert doesn't need a special occasion.
What’s Behind The Name?
Rogue Petunia is a nod to Sara's flower loving late mother, Tina. In 2013, Sara gifted a beautiful petunia plant for Mother's Day. A few months later Tina passed away, and as a remembrance Sara brought home the petunia she had recently gifted her mother. The flower eventually died with the winter as petunias do, however, as spring came around, out of the crack in the concrete popped up one single petunia plant that produced one single flower. To our surprise, it was directly under the spot her mothers plant hung months before. It was immediately dubbed Sara's 'rogue petunia' and reminded Sara of her dear mother. In forming a new business in 2018, it was quickly decided the cakery be called Rogue Petunia Cakery in honor of her mother. Tina is dearly missed but still remains Sara's #1 fan.
